May 13 – BCHA Youth Visit to The Great Escape Mustang Sanctuary

Join us for a day of service and education!  The Youth Group will travel to the Great Escape Mustang Sanctuary and tour the facility, including hiking up to see the permanent wild herd of the 900 acre sanctuary.   The group will then spend some time volunteering time and labor to aid the organization with chores.  A few extra hands go a long way at an equestrian facility!  Lunch will be a picnic on the grounds of the sanctuary.

May 20 – BCHA Trail Building Day

Both BCHA and BCHAY spend a day each year helping to build and maintain some of the amazing trails in Boulder County.  As equestrians who value and love the trail system, our help and support shows our appreciation and involvement.  Date is still subject to change.   If you are interested in going, please email us at HERE

June 15 – Annual BCHAY Picnic

Open for all BCHAY members, this annual event is a great way to get to know other youth members, enjoy a day of sunshine and outdoor games, and help to elect the officers of the youth group.  Interested in running for office and getting more involved? Please email us. Location TBD.   Stay tuned!

July 13 – BCHA Youth Visit to the Colorado State University Equine Reproduction Lab

Join us for a day of service and education!  The Youth Group will travel to the CSU Equine Reproduction Lab where participants will have an opportunity to see how modern medicine is used to help successful conception, pregnancy, and delivery of healthy foals.  Demonstrations of a mare ultrasound and a stallion collection will be included.  A tour of the facility will be followed by a picnic lunch at Horsetooth Reservoir.  Tour leaves the Boulder area from Three Leaf Farm at 9am.  Facility tour is 10:30 am – 12:00 pm.  Return to the farm by 3pm.  Cost: $10 per member payable on day of event.  This event is open to all members.  Adult chaperones will be required for any member under 13.   If you are interested in going, please email us at HERE

August 9 – BCHA Youth Trail Ride

The annual BCHAY trail ride! Participants must have their own healthy and suitable horse, as well as all necessary tack.  Participants must be over 13, and competent on the trail.  This ride is not suitable for beginner riders.  BCHA takes no responsibility for chaperoning or assisting any rider.   All riders under 18 must have a signed waiver, and ALL riders, regardless of age, must wear an approved helmet.  Participants may be required to secure their own transportation to the trailhead.   Location TBD.
