About BCHA and our Equestrian Community

1971–2021: Celebrating 50 years of service to the Boulder Equestrian Community!

Our Mission: The Boulder County Horse Association (BCHA) promotes, protects and advocates for the equestrian community of Boulder County through education, recreation and collaboration.

BCHA has been a umbrella organization for all horse-related interests in Boulder County since 1971. Our educational, recreational, and collaborative activities are centered around bringing the horse community together. We also support the protection of our historic agricultural practices and livestock keeping within Boulder County. BCHA is a 501(c)3 organization, enabling contributions to the organization to be tax-deductible.

We are all volunteers here and could use your help in continuing to run this organization. Can you help support the horse community and make us stronger? Help provide leadership, organize events, or represent BCHA at city and county open space meetings. A wee bit of help goes a long way! Please e-mail us and let us know what you are interested in.

Want to “Test the Water”? Sit in on one of our BCHA ZOOM board meetings, held the second Monday of the month from 7 to 8:30 PM. E-mail BCHA for a link to join our ZOOM call.

Our activities include:

Education

BCHA Clinics/Events/Seminars—Held throughout the year, these horse-related events and educational seminars are designed to provide networking opportunities and promote open discussion concerning ongoing issues in the horse community. They are open to the public, and discounted or free to BCHA members.

E-news/Blog/Social Media—Our monthly e-news focuses on education and entertainment. Featuring news and articles related to the equine and agricultural community. Sign-up at the top of this website. Our blog reaches out to the community. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram. Follow the Boulder Equestrians on Trail Facebook page for more news!

Recreation

BCHA works to connect the community through fun and informative presentations, clinics that support local businesses, and annual events for all ages.

BCHA Rides—We offer organized, though informal rides on Boulder County and other County trail systems. If you would like to organize a ride please contact us.

BCHA Fun Show—This annual October horse show welcomes all ages and breeds at the Boulder County Fairground.

Collaboration

BCHA strives to present a unified voice on equestrian issues to local and regional governments. We support the acquisition of open space and trails for all users. Over the years we have collaborated with Boulder County to formulate a set of horse-keeping guidelines in the Land Use Code that can accommodate the needs of most horse owners, yet enable the County to enforce reasonable regulations should the need arise.
