Join us on Sunday October 15th 2023 for the annual BCHA Fun Show! 9 AM – 5 pm at the Boulder County Fairgrounds indoor arena 9595 Nelson Rd, Longmont $7 per class or $5 if you pre-register by Oct 14th! BCHA members get three FREE classes! Download the registration and showbill HERE! This fun event brings equestrians and horse lovers together from Boulder County and nearby front range communities. It’s a relaxed and entertaining day of equestrian classes and games. And don’t miss the wildly popular pre-Halloween costume class where horse and rider dress to impress!

Mingle with BCHA members and friends along with staff and volunteers from Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center  Learn about CTRC's mission and vision Learn how horses can and do change the lives of the people with disabilities that CTRC serves Observe a class * Tour the facility Get to know some of the amazing team that make it all possible Enjoy a potluck dinner Beverages will be provided by BCHA Sign up & bring something to share for the potluck: Details: Please arrive on time to observe the class which begins at 5:30 Dress for the weather. We will be inside to eat but the tour will take us outside. Think waterproof shoes you don't mind getting muddy!

Hay is for Horses (and other livestock): Hay Selection and Feeding Tips

It’s about time to start feeding new crop hay if you haven't already started. Generally, feed is the largest cost for horse and livestock owners, and the quality of feed greatly affects animal health and production. You can choose to attend a discussion on equine nutrition and feeding with Dr. Devan Catalano, CSU Equine Specialist, or ruminant nutrition and feeding with Lyndsay Gonzalez, Boulder County SAM Coordinator. Look at, touch, and smell different types and qualities of hay with corresponding lab analyses. We will cover what to look for when purchasing hay, hay quality, interpreting hay analyses, and best feeding practices. This event is scheduled for October 19th from 9 - 11 am at the Ag Heritage Center in Longmont (8348 Ute Hwy, Longmont, CO). This event is free to the public. Education/Outreach: Safety When Passing Horses on Trail

Lagerman Preserve

Boulder County Open Space and Boulder County Horse Association representatives along with horse ambassadors Ellie and Walker will be at the Lagerman Agricultural Preserve, Sunday, Oct. 20th, from 9AM to Noon to talk to all trail users about safety when passing horses on trail.
