Colorado Equestrian Zone Bill Info Session
Livestream: Ralston Valley CoalitionJoin Jefferson County Horse Council and Community Equestrian for an in-depth discussion of the Equestrian Zone Bill, which goes to the Colorado State Senate floor for a vote THIS MONTH. Representatives from all Colorado equine and equestrian groups are strongly encouraged to attend. A livestream of the meeting is available HERE through the Ralston Valley Coalition. If you want to join in person, just head on down to the Lakewood Library. Background: As Colorado grows and becomes more urbanized, and as people’s familiarity with horse behavior decreases, the possibility increases for roadway accidents like the one that killed the horse Griffin and injured his rider. To help minimize the chance of these types of accidents, many equestrians have come together to improve roadway and equine safety, resulting in SB25-149. Primary provisions in the bill include: Safety standards for riders and horses, Identification of equestrian zones, Improving public awareness of our equestrian heritage and culture, and, Improving public safety through a pass wide and slow approach for motorists when overtaking equestrians. Find out more about the bill here: https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/sb25-149. Write your legislator here: Find My Legislator | Colorado General Assembly
