This free program through CSU Extension will provide horse owners and equine facility managers with the knowledge and tools needed to prepare for and respond to disasters. Participants will learn how to develop emergency plans, assess risks specific to equine operations (such as wildfire, flood, and severe weather), and ensure the safety and welfare of horses and people during emergencies. The Legends of Ranching program is an immersive, experiential learning model for CSU Equine Sciences students. Through LOR, students engage directly with equine industry partners, established ranches, and consignors while applying natural horsemanship training principles in the colt development process. The nine-month program culminates with this Performance Horse Sale, held annually at CSU in Fort Collins.
